Geovani Pena

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Geovani is a passionate volleyball coach with a deep understanding of the game, shaped by years of experience as both a player and a coach. A graduate of YES Prep Southwest, Geovani went on to get a Bachelor's degree in Biology from St. Olaf College, where his commitment to volleyball flourished. With over six years of competitive playing experience, Geovani served as the starting libero and backup setter for St. Olaf’s collegiate men’s club team, competing against Division I and II club programs. His versatility on the court and deep knowledge of defensive strategy laid the foundation for his future in coaching.

Geovani served as head coach of the St. Olaf women’s collegiate club team for three years, where he discovered his passion for coaching and player development. He has also worked with high school athletes through summer camps for boys’ volleyball and one-on-one training sessions with local players. These experiences have reinforced his belief in the importance of balancing academics and athletics—a value he teaches in every athlete he coaches. Geovani emphasizes building a strong understanding of game mechanics and situational techniques, especially on the defensive end. Whether in the front or back row, he encourages focus and smart play. Above all, he values teamwork and creating strong bonds among players, both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy blends competitive intensity with the joy of the game ensuring that every athlete he mentors learns how to work hard, play smart, and have fun.
